It all started with my late father Charles who became after the WW2 a homebrew shortwave radio-amateur ONL02142 tuning the waves. In those times you did not had any fancy Icoms or Kenwoods, everything had to be build by your self and from scrap. So I grew up hearing strainge noises and by the time I was old enough I did not knew better than to become one HAM too.
At young age I started to learn the colourcode of resistors and capacitors or knew the difference between electrotubes.

When in 1980 I graduated in electricity with speciality electronics, the army called me. I teamed up the special-forces as radio-operator. I also became active on the 27Mhz band and received my swl number ONL02535. During years I swepts the short waves to hear that one exotic place or lonely tune from far far away. I listen to HAM and I send QSL to broadcaststations.
In 1994 I received my “class B” license call ON1SM. to change it in 2006 for a “class A” license call ON5SM.
